Cele mai multe nominalizări la Oscarul din acest an au fost obținute producția britanica “The King’s Speech” cu 12 nominalizări. Oscarul din acest an ține aproape concurenți, la o distanță de 2 nominalizări este filmul “True Grit” cu 10 nominalizări și, surprinzător, “The Social Network” și “Inception” cu câte 8.

A 83-a gală a premiilor Oscar va avea loc pe 27 februarie, la Kodak Theatre din Los Angeles. Nominalizările la Oscarul din acest an au fost anunțate au fost anunţate marţi, într-o conferinţă de presă, la Los Angeles, de actriţa Mo’Nique şi preşedintele Academiei de film americane, Tom Sherak.

Prezența pe lista nominalizaților a filmului “The Social Network” a stârnit zvonuri că producția americană va fi câștigătoarea absolută a acestui an, în ciuda numărului mai mic de nominalizări față de concurenții reali “The King’s Speech” și “True Grit”.
